Amarillo Jazz Society presents June Jazz Camp on June 16-17 at Amarillo College. Times are Monday, June 16 from 9-12 am and 2-5 pm, and Tuesday, June 17 from 9-12 am and 2-4 pm. June Jazz performance starts at 7:30 and features UNT jazz faculty bassist and educator Lynn Seaton. Admission is free and this event is sponsored by the Amarillo Art Force. Tuesday night was at West Texas State University with WTAMU music faculty Nick Scales (bass) and Dr. Susan Martin (drum set). I played piano with Mike the next night at Burberry’s downtown. The first set was with the big band and the second was a small group with Terrance McDaniel (drums) and Dave Fike (bass) comprising the rhythm section. In addition to Mike playing several people sat in as well. Thank you to all who came and were involved.
